The Culture Club Collective is a group which was formed to celebrate the lives of LGBTQIA Elders, to create places where we can connect, have a blether, and have a good time. It is specially designed for older LGBTQIA people, but all are welcome who want to come and uplift this group and join the party!

Who is the Culture Club Collective?

The Culture Club Collective is aimed at providing experiences for the older LGBTQIA community. Formed intially through a partnership project between All the Queens Men, National Theatre of Scotland, Eden Court and Luminate, we call this group ‘Elders’ - a term inherited from the Australian project that instigated this work in Scotland - acknowleding the lived experiences of this section of the community.

The Elders welcome all LGBTQIA+ people and allies to The Culture Club Collective activities.

Supported by Sanctuary Queer Arts, the project is overseen by the Elders Forum members and artistically led by artists Chris Wilson and Lewis Hetherington. The project is supported by producer Karen Allan.

The Elders forum is chaired by Colin Mitchell.

Culture Club Collective does Eurovision 2023

In May 2023, the Culture Club Collective hosted 2 Eurovision themed events for the LGBTQIA+ community. The first event was a Eurovision party with live music from Scarlett Randle, dance led by Chris Wilson and Karen Tyne (AKA Stuart Mitchell), who also made an appearance as Eurovision legend Conchita Wurst. The event was hosted by Lou Brodie, Lewis Hetherington and Fraser MacLeod at the fabulous Civic House. Designer Zephyr Liddle brought some sparkle to the event with digital design from Iain Craig.

Sunday saw a fun, relaxed Eurovision after party, at the Tron Theatre, hosted by Lewis and Lou with Dylan Beck. There were scones, tea, quizzes and of course plenty of music & dance.

Check out the photos from Culture Club Collective does Euorvision below. All pictures by the incredibly talent and project friend Tiu Makkonen.
