A Play, A Pie and A Pint and Sanctuary Queer Arts Collaboration

Writing Commission and Writer Development

We are excited to launch our Writing Commission and Writer Development in collaboration with A Play, A Pie and A Pint.

ABOUT THE COLLABORATION

Our organisations are excited to bring new queer plays to life, and have already worked together on JD Stewart’s THE DEVIL DRINKS CAVA, presented in June 2023 at Òran Mór. PPP programming is no stranger to queer content, queer creatives and prides itself on presenting a diverse range of perspectives on its stage throughout every season… Joining up with Sanctuary Queer Arts is the perfect partnership to hone in on LGBTQIA+ representation in PPP’s programme.

This collaboration is an exciting opportunity to find new LGBTQIA+ writing talent in Scotland, bring a new play to life as part of the A Play, A Pie and A Pint season – and give it a development process seldom found for PPP plays. The writer will also get invaluable mentoring and career support from Sanctuary Queer Arts as part of the process.

Sanctuary Queer Arts and A Play, A Pie and A Pint are pleased to be supporting Hannah McGregor who was the successful writer with their new play ‘Ness’

Hannah is funded as part of Sanctuary Queer Arts’ Artist Development Fund.

During a period of script development Hannah has been mentored by award winning playwright James Ley.

Their production of Ness will be directed by award winning director Debbie Hannan and will premier at A Play, A Pie and A Pint:

Glasgow - Mon 8th - Sat 13th April - Òran Mór, Glasgow

Aberdeen - Tue 16th - Sat 20th April - The Lemon Tree, Aberdeen

This production will be assisted by fellow Artist Development Fund recipient Emmal Lynne Harley.
